Growing Romaine!

My neighbor, Nicole, showed me how to grow Romaine Lettuce from the scraps of used Romaine! Genius! I cannot wait to put these in our garden and watch them grow.

First, cut the ends off of Romaine lettuce making sure to leave about a 2 1/2 inch stump. Then simply get a bowl and fill with an inch of water. Make sure to change the water every day or so. You will be surprised how fast these grow. After about 2 weeks be sure to plant them in the ground so the dirt just covers where the cut was made.

We put the Romaine in the ground today along with onions, cucumbers, zuchinni and apple trees!

Homemade Gift Tags and Packaging Ideas

Did you know I used to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator? I had so much fun stamping homemade cards and projects while I was home raising our children. As our children grew, I stopped stamping and went back to school to become a teacher. But my love for crafting hasn’t changed. I still have alot of their papers and other supplies that I use to create homemade cards and packaging like these.

I had two birthdays coming up, one for my son’s girlfriend and another for my son’s friend, Ben. The last package is for my friend, Robyn. I made her a facemask to wear during the coronavirus pandemic.

Banana Mocha Smoothie

Breakfast today was super unconventional mainly because my 21-year-old is home from college and he wanted to make copycat Aunt Annies pretzel nuggets together. He ended up sleeping late into the morning and I was hungry so I made the pretzel nuggets without him. After downing about 12 of these (how much is a serving anyway?), I was craving a chocolate smoothie.

Now I am always trying to perfect my smoothies. I’ll add too much of this and not enough of that and sometimes wish I could start over. Well, this time I nailed it! This was the most satisfying smoothie I’ve ever made. It was the perfect consistency and had just the right amount of chocolatey goodness.

4 french vanilla coffee ice cubes made the night before (add 4 plain ice cubes if you don’t want the coffee added)
1/4 cup Fage 2% Greek Yogurt
1/4 cup half and half (I use light cream and almond milk)
1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 frozen banana
1 tbsp dutch cocoa powder
1/2 tsp Sweetleaf Stevia (more or less to taste)

You will need to freeze a banana and coffee ice cubes the night before. Then combine the half and half and the almond milk with a banana, the coffee ice cubes, yogurt, cocoa and stevia in a blender until smooth. Enjoy!
